Science
Undergraduate
Exceptional undergraduate students and high school students are accepted into the laboratory. Previous students include winners of local Science Fair competitions and a winner of the International Science Fair.
We occasionally accept a few students as part-time volunteers in the laboratory and as summer students.
We have graduated a number of undergraduate thesis students. These students should apply early.
Graduate
We accept applications from highly qualified potential graduate students. All graduate students must be acceptable to the Graduate Program in Medical Sciences at McMaster University.
The training offered by the laboratory includes interactions with our collaborators in the University and at other institutions in Canada and abroad. A wide variety of techniques and approaches are available to the student to apply to the solution of cutting edge problems in neuroscience.
Postdoctoral
The postdoctoral fellowship experience emphasizes research productivity, learning of new approaches, developing important collaborations and undertaking some of those “long shot” experiments that cannot be done at any other time in one’s career. We do everything possible to further the career development of our Postdoctoral Fellows.
We have limited support for Postdoctoral Fellows. We encourage all Fellows to obtain external career awards from various granting agencies.
Visiting scientists
We have an active program of collaboration with visiting scientists from other institutions. Applications should be made well ahead of the intended visit.
A major and longstanding collaboration is through an agreement between McMaster University Faculty of Health Sciences and the University of Chieti, Italy.
